How Often Should You Wash Your Wig?

Wash your wig every 7–14 wears. Avoid over-washing—it can shorten the lifespan.

How to Control Frizz on Curly Human Hair Wigs:

  1. Wash It Properly:
First clean the cap with shampoo. Soak in softener water for 20 minutes, dry on a wig stand with a net over it (don’t dry upside down).

  2. Use Conditioner:
Always use conditioner after shampooing. Focus on the mid-lengths to ends. Look for glycerin or shea butter-based products.

  3. Don’t Brush Dry Hair:
Only detangle when damp using a wide-tooth comb from ends to roots to prevent frizz and damage.

  4. Air Dry First:
Let it air dry 90% before blow-drying. Use low heat, hold the dryer 6 inches away, and keep it moving to prevent damage.

  5. Use a Diffuser:
When blow-drying curly/wavy wigs, a diffuser minimizes frizz and heat damage by softening the airflow.

  6. Apply Hair Oil to Ends:
Use 1–3 drops of hair oil on dry ends for shine and frizz control.

  7. Keep Heat Tools Low:
Use heat styling tools at 250–300°F max. Higher temps cause more frizz and damage.

  8. Avoid Overprocessing:
Too much heat, bleach, or dye leads to frizz and breakage. Try heatless styles when possible.

  9. Reduce Volume with Thinning Shears (Optional):
If the wig feels too bulky, you can use thinning shears or have a stylist reduce the density. Don’t overdo it—you don’t want tracks to show.
